Habitat:
Common in a small (~1-acre) wet prairie / meadow remnant. Small, loose patches in saturated, slightly spongy, silty-organic and somewhat marly soil. Full sun. Flowers blue to whitish-blue.

Associates include Carex tetanica, C. buxbaumii, C. interior, C. granularis, C. cryptolepis, C. lasiocarpa, Eriophorum angustifolium, Glyceria striata, Deschampsia cespitosa, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Solidago riddellii, Lobelia siphilitica, Senecio paupercula, Potentilla fruticosa, Rhamnus frangula, Salix petiolaris, S. bebbiana.
