Habitat:
Infrequent in a small (~1-acre) wet prairie / meadow remnant. Scattered shrubs, to 7 feet tall, in saturated, slightly spongy, silty-organic and somewhat marly soil. Full sun.

Associates include Carex granularis, C. cryptolepis, C. tetanica, C. interior, C. lasiocarpa, C. buxbaumii, Eriophorum angustifolium, Glyceria striata, Deschampsia cespitosa, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Senecio paupercula, Viola nephrophylla, Solidago riddellii, Lobelia siphilitica, Potentilla fruticosa, Salix petiolaris, S. bebbiana.
