Habitat: Infrequent in tamarack swamp. Interrupted canopy dominated by Larix laricina, with scattered Picea mariana. Sparse understory. Partial shade. Forming very loose clumps on low hummocks. Saturated peat.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex disperma, C. leptalea, C. paupercula, Smilacina trifolia, Menyanthes trifoliata, Campanula aparinoides, Potentilla palustris, Sarracenia purpurea, Ledum groenlandicum, Andromeda glaucophylla, Betula glandulifera, Lonicera villosa, Salix pedicellaris.
