Locality: United States, Minnesota, Clearwater, Very gently rolling sand plain north of the Clearwater River, five miles northeast of Bagley.

Habitat: Uncommon to occasional in tamarack swamp. Interrupted to rather dense canopy of Larix laricina, with frequent Picea mariana. In carpets of Pleurozium schreberi or needle duff on higher hummocks. Deep peat. Partial to full shade.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex leptalea, C. paupercula, Rubus pubescens, Cornus canadensis, Maianthemum canadense, Smilacina trifolia, Cypripedium acaule, Rhamnus alnifolia, Lonicera villosa, Ledum groenlandicum, Vaccinium oxycoccus, V. angustifolium.
