Habitat:
Infrequent in large cedar swamp northwest of Kemptons Lake. Patchy canopy dominated by Thuja occidentalis, with occasional Larix laricina. Cedars not overly large, often leaning in a haphazard fashion. Patchy understory of Abies balsamea, Thuja occidentalis, Picea mariana, Alnus incana, Salix pyrifolia. Small loose clumps, in carpets of Sphagnum, Pleurozium, etc.

Associates include Carex leptalea, C. disperma, C. interior, C. vaginata, C. tenuiflora, Trientalis borealis, Rubus pubescens, Coptis groenlandica, Cornus canadensis, Smilacina trifolia, Cypripedium reginae, Osmunda regalis, O. cinnamomea.
