Habitat:
Occasional in large cedar swamp northwest of Kemptons Lake. Patchy canopy dominated by Thuja occidentalis, with occasional Larix laricina. Cedars not overly large, often leaning in a haphazard fashion. Patchy understory of Abies balsamea, Thuja occidentalis, Picea mariana, Alnus incana, Salix pyrifolia. Dense clumps, typically on higher hummocks.

Associates include Carex leptalea, C. disperma, C. interior, C. vaginata, C. tenuiflora, Trientalis borealis, Smilacina trifolia, Rubus pubescens, Cornus canadensis, Cypripedium reginae, Osmunda regalis, Coptis groenlandica, Ledum groenlandicum.
