Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Rolling forested terrain south of the Fernberg Road, eight miles east-northeast of Ely.

Verbatim Elevation: 1435 feet
Habitat: Occasional in large cedar swamp northwest of Kemptons Lake. Patchy canopy dominated by Thuja occidentalis, with occasional Larix laricina. Cedars not overly large, often leaning in a haphazard fashion. Patchy understory of Abies balsamea, Thuja occidentalis, Picea mariana, Alnus incana, Salix pyrifolia. Dense clumps, typically on higher hummocks.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex leptalea, C. disperma, C. interior, C. vaginata, C. tenuiflora, Trientalis borealis, Smilacina trifolia, Rubus pubescens, Cornus canadensis, Cypripedium reginae, Osmunda regalis, Coptis groenlandica, Ledum groenlandicum.
