Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Along the Snowbank Hiking Trail in strongly rolling bedrock terrain on the west side of Snowbank Lake, 19 miles east-northeast of Ely.

Verbatim Elevation: 1460 feet
Habitat: Uncommon and local along the hiking trail; two small patches ~1/4-mile apart. Mesic level area between ridges and on gentle east-facing slope. Partial shade of young Populus tremuloides and Betula papyrifera (canopy trees mostly leveled by 1999 windstorm). Rocky silty soil.
Associated Species: Associates include Calamagrostis canadensis, Fragaria virginiana, Pteridium aquilinum, Equisetum sylvaticum, Aster macrophyllus, Rubus pubescens, R. strigosus, Prunus virginiana, Corylus cornuta.
