Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Rugged bedrock terrain south of the Fernberg Road, along the upper reaches of Madden Creek, 12 miles east-northeast of Ely.

Verbatim Elevation: 1470 feet
Habitat: Local along a two-track forest road leading to an unimproved boat landing on the north shore of Madden Lake. Gentle south-facing slope; ~30-50 feet back from and ~3-8 feet above the lake. Loose patches in moist rocky soil (road cuts through an intermittent stream channel here). Partial shade of adjacent forest, here a mix of Betula papyrifera and Fraxinus nigra. Understory of Abies balsamea, Picea glauca, Corylus cornuta.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex aurea, C. arctata, Glyceria striata, Poa compressa, Danthonia spicata, Rubus pubescens, Prunella vulgaris, Eupatorium maculatum.
