Locally abundant in poor fen and poor scrub conifer swamp along the east side of the creek. Deep saturated peat. Continuous carpets of Sphagnum spp. mosses (S. magellanicum, S. angustifolium, S. fuscum, etc.). Mostly in full sun (to partial shade of stunted Picea mariana). Forming extensive loose to dense patches. Co-dominant cover (with Chamaedaphne calyculata) in many areas.
