Habitat:
Locally common in cedar and ash swamp southwest of the creek. Moist to wet peat. Mostly in full shade under canopy of Thuja occidentalis or Fraxinus nigra. Understory variously Abies balsamea, Fraxinus nigra, or Alnus incana. Forming clumps and loose patches.
