United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; On the northern shore of the eastern portion of Moose Lake, in rugged bedrock terrain 18 miles east-northeast of Ely.
Occasional on the lower portion of a small and rather dry north-facing cliff which is located on the lower slope of a steep, 100-foot bedrock ridge. The 20- to 40-foot cliff face is composed of quite broken metasedimentary rock (Knife Lake group). Shaded by the aspect of the cliff and nearby Thuja occidentalis, Acer spicatum, and Betula papyrifera. Scattered small patches along crevices and in shallow detritus on ledges.
