Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Strongly rolling bedrock terrain north of the Fernberg Road between the Moose Lake Road and Uncle Judas Creek, 16 miles east-northeast of Ely; on the boggy western shore of 13-acre Gem Lake.

Habitat: Infrequent in poor fen and poor scrub conifer swamp. Saturated peat. Continuous Sphagnum angustifolium carpets. Full sun to partial shade of stunted Larix laricina and Picea mariana. Loose clumps.
Associated Species: Associates include Eriophorum virginicum, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Myrica gale, Drosera rotundifolia.
