Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; On the northern shore of the eastern portion of Moose Lake, in rugged bedrock terrain 18 miles east-northeast of Ely.

Habitat: Local, occasional on steep, 120-foot, southeast-facing, upper slope of a narrow bedrock ridge. Partial shade of Pinus resinosa and P. strobus in bedrock woodland above large shoreline cliffs. Thin soil and detritus over metasedimentary rock (Knife Lake group). Several small clumps here.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex backii, Danthonia spicata, Poa pratensis, Arabis pycnocarpa, Commandra umbellata, Aquilegia canadensis, Fragaria virginiana, Woodsia ilvensis, Symphoricarpos albus, Rosa acicularis, Amelanchier humilis, Cladina sp.
