Habitat:
Local in a small ash swamp on a broad ridge. Patchy canopy of young Fraxinus nigra and Abies balsamea (regenerating from 1999 windthrow). Moist shallow organic soil over rocky sandy silt. Partial shade. Dozens of clumps in ~two acres, some quite robust.
