Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; On the shores of Basswood Lake in rolling bedrock terrain 15 miles northeast of Ely; along the southern shore of the lake, between Hoist and Wind Bays.

Verbatim Elevation: 1305 feet
Habitat: Frequent. Scattered clumps and dense patches in a narrow zone at the lakeward edge of the upland forest. Thousands of plants in this vicinity. Mostly in partial shade; the collection site patch occurs in a sheltered cove and is shaded by Thuja occidentalis, Abies balsamea, Picea glauca, Betula papyrifera, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, and Alnus incana. Silty soil amongst rocks and small boulders.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Myrica gale, Spiraea alba, Euthamia graminifolia, Calamagrostis canadensis.
