Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; On the shores of Moose Lake in rugged bedrock terrain 17 miles east-northeast of Ely. Local on the northernmost island in Section 28.

Elevation: 411 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1350 feet

Habitat: Partial shade of Abies balsamea and Betula papyrifera in bedrock woodland where the canopy was mostly leveled by a major wind storm in 1999. Shallow rocky soil over metasedimentary bedrock (Knife Lake group). Level to sloping settings. Woody stems entwining on vegetation to ~8 feet high.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Shepherdia canadensis, Lonicera canadensis, Diervilla lonicera, Ribes oxyacanthoides, Amelanchier humilis, Cornus rugosa, C. stolonifera, Juniperus communis, Cynoglossum boreale, Pteridium aquilinum, Aster macrophyllus.
