Habitat:
Uncommon and local on the steep, 120-foot, southeast-facing, upper slope of a narrow bedrock ridge. Partial shade of Pinus resinosa and P. strobus in bedrock woodland above large shoreline cliffs. Thin soil and detritus over metasedimentary rock (Knife Lake group). Several small clumps here.
Associated Species:
Associates include Cladina sp., Carex tonsa var. rugosperma, Danthonia spicata, Poa pratensis, Woodsia ilvensis, Commandra umbellata, Aquilegia canadensis, Fragaria virginiana, Arabis pycnocarpa, Symphoricarpos albus, Amelanchier humilis.
