Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Fairly rugged bedrock terrain 11 miles northeast of Ely; on a ridge south of Ella Hall Lake.

Elevation: 436 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1430 feet

Habitat: Local in mesic mixed forest. Patchy to interrupted canopy (recovering from 1999 windthrow) and subcanopy of Acer rubrum, Abies balsamea, Betula papyrifera, and Populus tremuloides. Patchy to interrupted shrub layer of Corylus cornuta and Acer spicatum. Silty rocky soil on gradual northwest-facing slope of a low ridge top rise. Loose patch of dozens of vertical shoots.

Associated Taxa: Additional associates include Streptopus roseus, Aster macrophyllus, Galium triflorum, Lycopodium clavatum, Lonicera canadensis, Carex pedunculata, Oryzopsis asperifolia, Brachyelytrum aristosum.
