Habitat:
Local in a fairly broad rich fen zone near the northwestern corner of Slumber Lake. Forming loose to rather dense patches. Deep, very quaky, wet peat; some in shallow water in small depressions. Full sun. Subtle bluish hue to the foliage.

Associates include Myrica gale, Andromeda glaucophylla, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Rhynchospora alba, Eriophorum tenellum, E. virginicum, Trichophorum alpinum, Utricularia cornuta, U. intermedia, Menyanthes trifoliata, Pogonia ophioglossoides, Calopogon tuberosus, Platanthera lacera, P. clavellata.
