Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Rolling bedrock terrain along the Four Mile Portage between Fall and Basswood Lakes, nine miles northeast of Ely; on the southern shore of Muskeg Lake.

Habitat: Very locally abundant. Forms the dominant cover in a narrow zone (3-10 feet wide) on the lake shore at the edge of a sedge fen. Zonal here, dense patches at the water's edge, bordering a broader zone dominated by Carex lasiocarpa. Shallow water; mucky substrate. Full sun. Stems and leaves with a subtle bluish hue.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Dulichium arundinaceum, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Triadenum fraseri, Sagittaria latifolia, Potamogeton gramineus, Nymphaea odorata, Glyceria borealis.
