United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Rolling bedrock terrain northeast of Fall Lake, nine miles northeast of Ely. Local on the shore of a small island at the south end of Mud Lake.

Habitat:
Frequent in wet, shallow, organic silt over metamorphic andesitic bedrock (Newton Lake Formation). On the lake shore just above the present lake level. Dense clumps. Full sun.

Associates include Agrostis scabra, Dulichium arundinaceum, Eleocharis acicularis, Leersia oryzoides, Juncus brevicaudatus, Myrica gale, Cicuta bulbifera, Scutellaria galericulata, Mimulus ringens, Nymphaea odorata, Viola macloskeyi.
