Habitat:
Locally abundant in a narrow poor fen zone surrounding a small (~1/4-acre) bog pond. Full sun to partial shade of Picea mariana. Continuous Sphagnum carpets. Moderately quaky saturated peat. Large loose patches.

Associates include Drosera rotundifolia, Sarracenia purpurea, Scheuchzeria palustris, Calopogon tuberosus, Spinulum canadense, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Kalmia polifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Andromeda glaucophylla, Rhynchospora alba, Carex pauciflora, Eriophorum chamissonis.
