Habitat:
Locally abundant in poor fen on the south side of the lake. Full sun to partial shade of stunted Picea mariana and Larix laricina. Dense patch covering 1-2 acres here. Continuous Sphagnum carpets. Deep saturated peat.

Additional associates include Carex pauciflora, Scheuchzeria palustris, Sarracenia purpurea, Kalmia polifolia, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Andromeda glaucophylla.
