Occasional to locally common. Occurring very near the water's edge in a narrow poor fen zone. Continuous Sphagnum carpets. Quaky saturated peat. Full sun.
Associates include Chamaedaphne calyculata, Andromeda glaucophylla, Carex lasiocarpa, C. echinata, C. limosa, Dulichium arundinaceum, Rhynchospora alba, Iris versicolor, Triadenum fraseri, Menyanthes trifoliata.
