United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Fairly rugged bedrock terrain south of Basswood Lake, 15 miles northeast of Ely; along a small creek connecting Wind Lake to Wind Bay; where the portage trail crosses the creek.

Habitat:
Local in a tiny riparian meadow. Occasional, forming large clumps in wet, very rocky, and shallow mucky substrate. Partial shade of Fraxinus nigra and Abies balsamea in the adjacent strip of wet forest.

Associates include Carex stipata, C. crawfordii, C. cryptolepis, C. bebbii, C. retrorsa, Glyceria striata, Agrostis scabra, Alopecurus aequalis, Juncus brevicaudatus, Eupatorium rugosum, Lysimachia terrestris, Lycopus americanus, Mimulus ringens, Scutellaria lateriflora.
