Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Rolling bedrock terrain on the northeast side of Wind Lake, 17 miles northeast of Ely.

Habitat: Local on the margin of an old beaver meadow, along a small drainage ~100 yards from the lake. Mostly in partial shade of Picea glauca, Betula papyrifera, and Alnus incana. Small patches in ~1/4-acre area dominated by Calamagrostis canadensis. Mesic ecotonal zone recovering from past inundation. Rocky, silty-organic soil with scattered small boulders and thick thatch.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Dendrolycopodium hickeyi, Athyrium angustum, Lycopodium lagopus, Diphasiastrum complanatum, Rubus strigosus, Polygala paucifolia, Solidago canadensis.
