United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Fairly rugged bedrock terrain between Wind and Moose Lakes, 16 miles northeast of Ely; east of a small (8-acre) bog pond south of Washte Lake.

Habitat:
Local in a fairly rich forested peatland. Short and very patchy canopy, recovering from 1999 windthrow. Partial shade of Alnus incana, Picea mariana, Fraxinus nigra, Betula papyrifera, Abies balsamea, and Salix bebbiana. Moist peat. Loose patch of a couple dozen plants. Short, branching shrubs, to 4 feet tall.

Additional associates include Ledum groenlandicum, Ribes triste, R. hirtellum, Cornus stolonifera, Rubus strigosus, R. pubescens, Mitella nuda, Thelypteris palustris, Smilacina trifolia, Carex disperma, C. leptalea.
