Forming the dominant cover in a narrow zone of lacustrine marsh. Dense patches in shallow water (<18 inches deep). Rooted in silty-organic substrate amongst large rocks. Full sun.
Associates include Acorus americanus, Equisetum fluviatile, Sagittaria latifolia, Sium suave, Zizania palustris, Carex lacustris.
