Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Rolling bedrock terrain east of Wind Bay, Basswood Lake, 16 miles northeast of Ely.

Elevation: 398 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1305 feet

Habitat: Locally abundant in a shrub shore fen which forms broad zones along a boggy creek entering Wind Bay from the east. Co-dominant with Myrica gale and Chamaedaphne calyculata. Mostly in full sun (some partially shaded by stunted Picea mariana and Pinus banksiana). Deep peat. Carpets of Sphagnum mosses (S. magellanicum, S. angustifolium, S. fimbriatum). Multi-stemmed shrubs, to eight feet tall.

Associated Taxa: Rolling bedrock terrain east of Wind Bay, Basswood Lake, 16 miles northeast of Ely. Additional associates include Smilacina trifolia, Alnus incana, Salix pyrifolia, Ledum groenlandicum.
