United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Along the south shore of Bailey Bay, Basswood Lake, between Rice Bay and Beaver Island, 20 miles northeast of Ely; near a campsite on the mainland shore opposite Beaver Island.

Habitat:
Frequent in a small (~3/4-acre) vernal ash swamp at the back of a small cove. Fairly dense canopy of Fraxinus nigra, with scattered F. pennsylvanica; also Betula allegheniensis and large Thuja occidentalis on the margin of the wetland. Moist, shallow, organic soil. Loose clumps.
Associated Species:
Associates include Calamagrostis canadensis, Carex projecta, C. intumescens, Equisetum sylvaticum, Galium tinctorium, Scutellaria lateriflora, Mentha arvensis, Climacium dendroides, Sphagnum squarrosum.
