Local in pine forest. Canopy dominated by maturing Pinus resinosa (likely planted), with scattered P. strobus. Patchy understory of Abies balsamea, Betula papyrifera, and scattered Pinus strobus. Frequent in quite thick carpets of mosses (Pleurozium, Dicranum). Silty-sand substrate. Gently southwest-facing middle portion of a 100-foot slope above the lake.
