Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; On the shores of Basswood Lake in rugged bedrock terrain 14 miles north-northeast of Ely; at the northeast end of Jackfish Bay.

Habitat: Local behind a sandy beach in the back of a deep cove sheltered by long granitic points. Shaded below Fraxinus nigra, F. pennsylvanica, Ilex verticillata, and Ulmus americana in a small vernal wetland (inundated by early season high water level of the lake). Moist shallow organic layer over sand. In a narrow zone dominated by Carex crinita. Small loose clumps.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Parthenocissus inserta, Equisetum sylvaticum, Onoclea sensibilis.
