Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; In the main body of Basswood Lake, in rolling bedrock terrain 14 miles northeast of Ely. On the western shore of the lake one mile southwest of Canoe Island, at the one time site of the Quetico Wilderness Research Station.

Habitat: Occasional to frequent in shallow water in a small bay. Sandy substrate. Plants entirely submerged, and essentially invisible due to an algal bloom, in water 3-4 feet deep.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Nymphaea tuberosa, Potamogeton robbinsii.
