Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Along the shores of Fall Lake in rolling bedrock terrain seven miles northeast of Ely; on the eastern portion of Mile Island, near campsite #2.

Elevation: 402 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1320 feet

Habitat: Local on this large sandy esker. Loose patch of a few hundred vertical shoots in an ecotonal setting just back from a small shoreline meadow on the north side of the narrow island. Shaded setting. Canopy includes Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Populus tremuloides, and rarely, large Thuja occidentalis. Sparse understory and shrub layer here. Moist sandy soil.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Vaccinium angustifolium, Rosa acicularis, Maianthemum canadense, Cornus canadensis, Lycopus uniflorus, Iris versicolor, Calamagrostis canadensis.
