Locality: United States, Minnesota, Morrison, Crane Meadows State Wildlife Management Area within Crane Meadows National Wildlife Refuge; Along the lower reaches of Buckman Creek on gently rolling sandy outwash five miles west of Buckman, eight miles southeast of Little Falls.

Elevation: 337 meters Verbatim Elevation: 1105 feet

Habitat: Uncommon in woodland (overgrown savanna) dominated by Pinus banksiana and open-grown Quercus ellipsoidalis. Understory includes Populus tremuloides. Deep sand with thick thatch, on the gentle northerly slopes of a low hill. Several dozen plants, in loose to rather dense patches. Stems trailing. Very few strobili present.

Associated Taxa: Associates include Carex pensylvanica, Danthonia spicata, Lathyrus venosus, Maianthemum canadense, Vaccinium angustifolium, Corylus americana.
