Habitat:
Locally common on lower third of a very steep, 200-foot, north- (to east-) facing bluff. At the mouth of a small tributary valley entering from the west, and in a similar setting ~1/4-mile upstream. Weakly-algific microsites in rich mesic hardwood forest. Rocky colluvial silt; some plants on low dolomite cliffs. Multi-stemmed shrubs 5-10 feet tall.
