Habitat: Locally frequent in a degraded calcareous fen, in a heavily grazed pasture just east of the road. Deep saturated marl (with abundant coral-like tan to gray concretions in the upper part of soil profile) on a buoyant peat dome raised 2-5 feet above the adjacent gentle slope. Large dense clumps, often in patches. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associates include Carex interior, C. stricta, Phalaris arundinacea, Typha xglauca, Parnassia glauca, Equisetum arvense, Packera aurea, Caltha palustris, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Eupatorium maculatum.
