Locally common in poor fen and poor scrub conifer swamp. Saturated peat. Continuous Sphagnum moss carpets. Full sun to partial shade of stunted Larix laricina and Picea mariana. Loose patches.
Associates include Carex magellanica, Drosera rotundifolia, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Myrica gale.
