Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Strongly rolling bedrock terrain north of the Fernberg Road between the Moose Lake Road and Uncle Judas Creek, 16 miles east-northeast of Ely.

Habitat: Local in sedge meadow and fen northeast of Gem Lake. Uncommon in Carex lasiocarpa- dominated portions of the heterogeneous wetland which is elsewhere dominated by Calamagrostis canadensis, Typha xglauca, or Myrica gale. Full sun to partial shade of young Larix laricina. Forming hummocks in saturated peat.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Carex utriculata, Dulichium arundinaceum, Myrica gale, Triadenum fraseri, Campanula aparinoides, Lysimachia terrestris, Dryopteris cristata, Iris versicolor.
