Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Strongly rolling bedrock terrain north of the Fernberg Road, east of the Moose Lake Road, 16 miles east-northeast of Ely.

Verbatim Elevation: 1415 feet
Habitat: Local in a bedrock outcrop complex along Uncle Judas Creek. Full sun to partial shade of Prunus virginiana, Alnus viridis, Spiraea alba, and young Pinus strobus. Loose to dense patch; hundreds of stems in shallow silty soil over metamorphic diabase. Level to gently sloping setting ~6-10 feet above the nearby wetland.
Associated Species: Associates include Comptonia peregrina, Vaccinium angustifolium, Diervilla lonicera, Aster macrophyllus, Antennaria neglecta, Oryzopsis pungens, O. asperifolia, Danthonia spicata, Schizachne purpurascens, Calamagrostis canadensis, Cladina spp.
