Locality:
United States, Minnesota, Washington, Afton State Park accessed from County Road 21 where Trout Brook enters the park; on the east side of the valley near Afton Alps where the trail goes uphill towards the bluff.

Description:
Pileus infundibuliform, 95-130 mm broad, creamy white, bruising pinkish or very light salmon, then brown to black; cuticle peels to about 1/4 of radius; Lamellae decurrent, very narrow, crowded, intervenose, lamellulae present, bruising pinkish or very light salmon, then brown to black; Stipe 50-60 mm long, 25-30mm at apex, equal or tapering downward, white, bruising pinkish, then brown to black; Taste at first mild, slowly becoming hot, odor slightly fruity; Chemical tests: ferrous sulfate green, Guaiac deep blue; Fruiting in a clutster of 4-5. Spores: N=21(6-)6.5-8(-8.2) x 5.5-6.5(-7), AVG=7.44-6.07, Q=(1.08-)1.09-1.33, E=1.22, warts 0.2-0.7 microns, isolated or connected in 2's and 3's; cap cuticle appears gelatinized as revived from dried specimen; Thickness of cuticle approaches 200 microns.
