Description: Fruiting body 50-100mm long, 20-30mm broad, about 20mm thick; applanate with a very broad umbo; Upper surface felty, matted, uneven or pock-marked; color brown to ocher, yellow along the margin; contex concolor with upper surface; pore surface concolorous with a slightly lighter-dusty appearance, darkening when rubbed; Pores about 1-2mm long, about 5 pores per mm; not uniform. All surfaces and contex turn very dark reddish brown in 3% KOH; Odor fragrant when fresh, reminiscent of ''Fomitopsis cajanderi'', not as strong.
