Substrate: Growing in moss-covered sandy soil.
Associated Species: Dominated by Pinus resinosa and Picea glauca. Associated with Pteridium aquilinum var. latiusculum, Diphasiastrum complanatum, Lycopodium clavatum, Equisetum sylvaticum.
