Habitat: Occasional to locally common on north-facing slope in mesic hardwood forest dominated by Acer saccharum with Acer rubrum, Populus grandidentata, Quercus alba and Quercus rubra in the canopy. Ostrya virginiana in subcanopy.
Substrate: Loam.
Associated Species: Carex cf. pedunculata, Athyrium filix-femina, Eurybia macrophylla, Fraxinus sp., Hepatica americana, Huperzia lucidula.
