Locality: United States, Minnesota, Aitkin, Solana State Forest. About 5.3 km northeast of Dads Corner (intersection of State Hwy. 65 and Cty. Rd. 2). Approximately 500 m west of the end of East White Pine Forest Road.

Habitat: Local and occasional on transition between mesic hardwood forest and tamarack swamp. Canopy dominated by younger Betula papyrifera, Acer rubrum, Populus tremuloides. Shrub layer with Betula papyrifera, Vaccinium angustifolium.
Substrate: Rich organic loam.
Associated Species: Eurybia macrophylla, Cornus canadensis, Lonicera sp., Carex intumescens, Pteridium aquilinum, Clintonia borealis, Quercus rubra seedlings.
Description: Plants in a few small patches over 2m x 10m area.
Individual Count: 25-50
