Habitat:
Common in northern mesic to wet-mesic hardwood forest dominated by Quercus rubra with occasional Abies balsamea, Betula papyrifera, Picea glauca. Sphagnum hummocks become common near sedge meadow to southwest.

Gaultheria procumbens, Cornus canadensis, Vaccinium angustifolium, Pteridium aquilinum.
Description:
Dominant in 25m x 25m patch (probably larger).
