Habitat: Younger Quercus ellipsoidalis/Acer rubrum forest, along edge of trail and into forest. Largest trees no more than 10cm dbh. Acer rubrum dominates shrub layer.
Associated Species: Pteridium aquilinum, Rubus sp., Monotropa uniflora.
Description: Large diffuse patch, 8m x 10m.
