Habitat: Occasional to locally dominant in mesic hardwood forest dominated by Populus tremuloides with Abies balsamea, Betula papyrifera, Acer rubrum in subcanopy. Surrounding forest clear cut in last few years.
Substrate: Sandy loam.
Associated Species: Eurybia macrophylla, Oryzopsis asperifolia, Hepatica americana, Pteridium aquilinum.
Description: Patch 10m x 20m.
