Locality: United States, Minnesota, Chisago, Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area: Sunrise Unit. About 4.3 km northeast of Stacy. About 660 m south of the parking lot on County Road 18 (870 m east of the intersection of Hemingway Ave. and Cty. Rd. 18).

Habitat: Slightly more open woodland. Dominated by larger Quercus ellipsoidalis. Acer rubrum, Pinus strobus, Betula papyrifera, Populus tremuloides also present. Shrubs include Vaccinium angustifolium, Acer rubrum saplings.
Substrate: Sandy loam.
Associated Species: Carex sp., Dryopteris carthusiana, Monotropa uniflora, moss.
Description: Sporadic, small patches. Diffuse throughout 15m x 15m area.
