Locality: United States, Minnesota, Pine, Banning State Park. Along the Kettle River just north of the Highway 123 bridge at Sandstone.

Habitat: Very local on a gently sloping alluvial terrace ~15 feet above the river, below a steep west-facing slope on the eastern bank. Forming small, dense patches along groundwater seepage flows. Cold clear water with a robust flow rate. Partial shade under a patchy canopy of Fraxinus nigra. Saturated, silty-organic substrate. Often growing in shallow water; some plants on small, moss-covered, sandstone outcrops occurring along the seepage flows.
Associated Species: Associates include Chrysosplenium americanum, Impatiens capensis, Veronica americana, Viola cucullata, Aster puniceus, Ranunculus septentrionalis, Carex stipata, C. bromoides.
